What is the Mind?

The mind has been discussed in many writings and people who understand their minds may be able to achieve great things. I believe that it would be useful to have an understanding of the way the mind works. We think a thought for example, we think a thought of standing up and by a miracle our body controls our muscles and we are able to stand up. But let us look at times when we do not do the things that we should do. How can we allow our minds to do the things that we know that we should do. What are the reasons that drive us to do the things that we should do, and what causes us to over come laziness?

How can pleasure and pain allow us to take the action that we need to take? It would seem that we tend to do things that give us pleasure and avoid things that give us pain. If we had an important essay to write for college home work, we could be driven to do it based on pleasure or pain, if we were told that we would be kicked off the course and thrown out of our home, then this might be a good reason to do the homework. On the other hand if we were told that we could get a £1000 cheque for writing the essay that could also drive us to do the homework. But what would you prefer to be the reason to drive you to take action pleasure or pain? May be you could start writing down the reasons why you do the things that you do, then go over your list and see how many were because of pleasure and how many were because of pain. They also say that we tend to be the creatures of habit, it has been said that it takes around 30 days to learn a new habit. What new habits would you like to obtain in the next 30 days. What new habits do you think would be of benefit to you? And what habits do you feel that you would like to stop doing?

Do good things come with a high price?

It was noted by some writers that children who do not have to earn their success in life could end up losing out later in life. Is it true that people who tend to be very successful, do it by their own abilities, or are self made? Would a self made millionaire appreciate their wealth more than someone who has won millions via the lottery. Do you think that people who have won a large amount of money tend to lose it just as quick.

Would you say that having an understanding of how to manage money effectively would be a good asset? What would you prefer, to work and earn your money or to be given money by a rich relative? What would give you more satisfaction getting money because of the skills that you have learnt or getting money because someone decided to give you? Would you treat the money the same, or would you value the money that you worked very hard to obtain? Do you believe a hungry boxer would work harder to become a champion or some one who had things very easy? Who would appreciate money more? Some one who had to study for a number of years and managed to live with very little money? Or someone who had been given money any time they wanted it by a rich parent?

Is There a Reward for Righteous Living?

What things would you change

If you have made great effort to live a life where you try to be kind and helpful to other people, but you do not always get thanks, I have good news. You may be doing good and it may often feel that you are not appreciated, but do not despair. Continue to do the best you can do, one day you will see the fruits of your labor. One point I would add is that you should continue to improve yourself, and study to improve your abilities. Use every negative experience as a lesson, decide to learn lessons, and be positive and build on your successes. Imagine that you were being watched every moment of the day, and every action that you made was being recorded. What things would you change, about your attitude, and the quality of work that you do? What if you were going to receive a great reward for every genuine smile that you gave. What if you would be greatly rewarded for the sincere acts of good that you committed. What things would you start to do differently, and how would you change your life?

The Power To Change Your Life

Could it be said that you hold the key to the power to change your life? Indeed if someone could prove to you that you had the power to live a different life, than you are living now would you be interested? What if this life is just a test run for a life which could be much better, but depending on your actions during this life, would you have a different outlook on life? What if you where to receive the equivalent of a million dollars for every person that you forgave, how would you react? Imagine you could write down your perfect day, and write down the life you want to live, what would you write? If you had the power to re-create the world, how would you re-design it? Why not do that as an exercise, and write down these things, and see the power you may receive by writing down these plans.

The Power Of Conscious Choice

If you consider every person on the planet, you will notice something that we all have. Indeed you will find that you have something that could have the power to change and even transform your life. You have something that could potentially change many areas of your life and the way that you live. So what is this thing that you have that can bring great changes to your life? And what is this power that can transform your life? Well this power may be more simple than you think, and it could be much easier than it may appear. Well the power is the power to choose, yes it is the power to make conscious choices. You have the power to make choices in your life, you have the power to decide what you will choose from moment to moment. You are the director of your life, you are the ruler of your actions.

Conclusion

Could it be a fact that you have the power to change your life by the decisions that you make, and would it be useful to write down the main things that you desire in life, and a plan to achieve it. What Does Success Look Like?

Before a person can be successful, it is important for the person to know what they consider as success in their life. Some people consider having a lot of money as success, some consider a big car or a large house, some consider living a healthy life. Some people consider having a good relationship, some a good family life. So it is important to know what success will look like, because once we know what success means to us then we can start to make plans to obtain it.

Enjoy Life While Achieving Goals

It is like setting out on a journey, a first step is knowing where a person wants to go, another step would be finding the right or best vehicle to get there. Another step could be working out how long it could take to get there. For some people the journey is the most important thing, for others it is about getting there as quick as possible. Another thing that could be considered is the cost of getting there. So what is more important getting there quick or enjoying the journey? May be it could be important to enjoy your life while working to achieve your goals, or it could be the case of living a balanced life. There are those who suggest that it is important to live a balanced live while working towards your goals. There are also suggestions of living in the now.

What if The Plan Fails?

I tend to prefer to live a balanced life, and enjoy the journey, for me the only moment I have is now. I feel that tomorrow is not promised so I tend to plan for the future but live in the now, and enjoy every moment. But it is down to each person to decide the things that they want from life. So what do you want from life and what does success mean to you? But I feel it is important to decide what success looks like for you and make plans to achieve it. Sometimes the first plan may not go as you like, but you can learn lessons from what went wrong and make new or modified plans. It is good to keep working towards your success and have a made up mind to achieve it. It is good to go for something that will not cause harm to other people.

Achieve a Lot Quicker

If you can get people to work with you to achieve your success that could help you to achieve it quicker. When people work together in a spirit of harmony they tend to achieve a lot more a lot quicker than one person trying to do everything on their own.

So think about what you consider as success for you, write it down, and make plans to achieve it.

Do You Really Have Choice in This Life?

How Much Choice do you really have in this life

If you consider that you are born in this world and it would appear that you randomly are born to a set of parents which are your father and mother. You go to a school or and nursery which you do not appear to have any choice in this matter. You live in an environment that is the choice of your parents or other external forces, then you are asked to choose a career or job that could last the whole of your life. Do you really have any choice in this whole process, or do we choose our fate before we enter into this life?

The Idea of Choice Before Birth

This could be an interesting question, due to the many philosophies and ideas, indeed there are schools of thought which say that we choose the parents that we are born to and we may in-fact choose many of the circumstances that occur during our life time, if this is true then we would have no reason to complain about the many things that occur during the course of our life time. And if you did in-fact choose the situations in your life, then why did you choose them, and was it for a part of your development? So the whole idea of you choosing the things that are happening before you were born would add an interesting element to life. That would lead to the question, why did you forget everything that happened prior to you being born.

Life before Birth

Did you have life before birth and did you have an existence before you were born on this planet at this time. And if you did live a life in another dimension why is there no recollection of the experiences before this life on this planet. One suggestion could be that if you knew who you were before you came in this life you may not in-fact achieve many of the things that you have achieved in this life. So if you did have an existence prior to this life, how can you find out more about that existence. This leads to another question, are there people who are fully aware of the existence that was before this life? And have they kept their mouths closed about it for a good reason.

Conclusion

Could it be that there are many things in the universe that are better if we do not know them? And would digging to find out lead to the proverbial can of worms? And did we have a choice before starting this life? What do you think – Thoughts to make you think.

Faith in Your Abilities – Thoughts to Make You Think

System of Achieving Success

If you notice that the people who tend to be successful have something that other people do not have they tend to do things with little effort, but is this the case? What are the things that contribute to achieving success? Is there a system or way of doing things that allows a person to be successful? How can a person find out the way or the system of achieving success? If you look at every person on this planet, we all have skills, and no to people are the same. We all have something that is unique about us something that we do better than everyone else on the planet.

Believe in Themselves

So what are your unique skills and abilities, what are the things that people ask you to do because you are good at it. What do you like doing, and what do you do that people say that you have a gift at. If you look at people who tend to be successful in their field of endeavour, they tend to believe in themselves. They have confidence that they will achieve the things that they set out to achieve. They seem to have inner self belief. These are some of the qualities that makes a person successful, so a key is to learn from people who are already successful. It is good to learn the things that made them successful, and develop those skills in yourself.

Faith to Achieve Success

Read about successful people and find out what things that they do and develop the same skills and abilities in yourself. You will find that most people who have gone on to be successful were just like everyone else, but what made them different. Could it be that they had faith in their abilities. Could it be that they kept trying until they succeeded. Could it be that they learnt from the things that went wrong in their lives. When people would go to the healer Jesus for healing, he would ask them, do you believe that I can heal you and if they said yes he would say your faith has made you whole. This suggest that your own faith is what allows you to achieve the things that you desire to achieve.

Faith in Your Abilities

Napoleon Hill studied a large number of self-made millionaires over 20 years and found that the had many things in common, He found one of the things was that they had self-confidence and faith in their abilities. So we can see that it is very important to have faith in your own abilities in order to find success in life. Self-belief is very important a person has to believe that the can achieve the things that they have set out to do. That is one of the important things that can help a person to find success in their endeavors. So have faith in your abilities.

Moderation Is the Key in All Things

The Curse of Excess

If you look at people who have great obsessions you could find that they might have addictions and may even have poor self-control. The ability to overcome addictions seems to be one of the challenges that faces many people. And it could be said that people who are able to control themselves may be in a position to achieve greater results in their endeavours. So it could be a very useful quality and ability for you to master the art of self-control. This could be the difference between failure and greater success in the things that you do in life. Just imagine the joy you could obtain knowing that all the things you want to achieve, you are able to achieve due to having a well-developed quality of self-control. It could mean that you may be able to live the life that you dream of or desire. So to develop moderation might involve you gaining great personal control.

The Benefits of Moderation and Self-Control

If you look at people who tend to achieve great things in life you will find that they may have certain things in common. There was a research conducted which lasted over 20 years which looked at people who are generally considered successful. This research found a number of interesting results. They noted that all these people either consciously or unconsciously did certain key things that were the same. self-control was one of the qualities that was discovered to be a trait of successful people. This research was conducted by Napoleon Hill and he studied 500 self-made millionaires over this 20 year period. So perhaps you might find great value in developing self-control and possibly that could help you to do things in greater moderation.

Developing Self-Control to Lead to Moderation

It has been said that we humans are creatures of habit, and the way that a bad habit is removed may in-fact be by replacing it with a new and better habit. It has been said that it takes around 30 days to develop a new habit. So by practicing your new habit for a period of about 30 days, you could find that you are in possession of the new pattern of behaviour that you require. And you may find that you have greater moderation in the areas of life that you need. So learning how to replace old habits with new habits could be the key required to developing greater moderation. This could lead to you finding more and greater satisfaction throughout your life. It could also be the key that could open bigger and more wonderful opportunities for you, in many areas of your life.

Ways to Say More Without Speaking

How can you say more without speaking? It is something that most of us do most of the time. The ability to say more without speaking has been one of the key communication channels in use. So how can a person say more without speaking? Is it possible to communicate without speaking? Well strangely enough it is something that most people do all the time, but may not be aware of it. So how can we communicate without speaking?

If you have looked at a group of birds flying in the sky in perfect formation, have you wondered how they do it? Consider the ants who seemed to be cut off from the others, but some how the others are aware of its presence. Is there more to the universe than what we see with our two natural eyes? What are the keys to these mysteries. Let us look more closely at some of these questions and see if we can discover the answers to some of these interesting questions.

Speaking without a word

Communication happens all the time whether we know we are communicating or not. And the fact that we may not say a word does not mean that we are not communicating. This is an art the we seem to develop as we grow, but we do communicate with out speaking. If you consider on a microscopic level, when someone has a cut on a finger how does the body communicate to start the repair of the body? Well to look at one question, communication happens by what we call body language. The way we move our body the expression of our face these all convey how we are feeling. That is why you can tell if a person is angry without a word being spoken. So we often reveal how we are feeling without a word being spoken. Another way that we communicate is by the tone of our voice, we can indicate a great deal by the tone, one tone can say I am bored while another can say I am very happy. Think about it now think of how you look when you are happy, think about the expression of your face. Think about the position of your body when you are feeling great.

Communication Mind to Mind

Do we communicate mind to mind, for example when we look at a group of birds flying in perfect formation, could they be communicating mind to mind. Have you ever felt that someone was looking at you or when walking along the street feel that you could say hello to one person and not another. Is there some kind of mind communicate in action here? There has been talk that we have a sixth sense or a psychic sense. Could it be the case that we all communicate in a psychic way even through we may not all be aware of it? Do we all have the capacity to communicate in a psychic way? Their was a man who had a near death experience and following the experience says that he feels we are all psychic even through we may not seem to be aware of it.

Developing Mental Agility

It has been suggested in a number of writings with respect to finding greater success in life that continual ongoing development could be of great value during the course of your life. In addition the idea of “Long Life Learning” has been promoted by many people who have found success during the course of their life. So could this lead to a positive argument for the development of your mental agility?

The ability to create in your mind could be thought to be a very valuable skill that you can develop. Indeed the ability to create mentally might require a great deal of time and effort. Imagine developing a razor-sharp mind; consider also having the facility to focus your mind at will with total concentration. For example in the natural world you can use a magnifying glass to effectively focus the rays of the sun on a single point. The great importance of this is that this complete focus will consistently allow the sun to burn any object under those rays, and will cause ignition. That is the power of concentrated effort. If you develop your mind like a magnifying glass, you will also be able to effectively focus your efforts and consistently achieve all your targets and goals. This can not be perfected in a hap-hazard way but will require effective and correct methods. Just as the rays of the sun requires a magnifying glass to deliver effective consistent results. But the fact is that in life anything that is worth having will require time and effort.

The Mental Workshop

In the workshop of your mind you need to acquire the tools in-order to develop this magnifying glass; this is used to concentrate all your mind power on a single point. The magnifying glass needs to be a mental resource that you will be able to pick up at will and allow your thought power to be totally concentrated. You need to develop the capacity to totally focus your thoughts at will. The same way that you switch on a light, you need to have that perfect control; switching on your focus, total focus and the ability to totally concentrate on one thing with razor-sharp precision.

The Tool of Repetition

If you think of experiences in your life where you have used repetition; you could remember the power that is gained by chiseling new words into your vocabulary. The ways that you powerfully learnt to master new words was by repetition. By using the simple totally effective tool of repetition, you have been able to adapt it to numerous areas of learning in your life. Indeed it is the same powerful mind tools that you have been using since you have been a child. Effective use of tools is the thing that makes you into a skilled master craft person. The powerful use of the repetition tool is the gem that will allow you to become mentally agile. As you master and continue to develop your skills to master this tool you will gain greater satisfaction in your life.

Finding Peace in Life – How to Find True Happiness

Finding Happiness and Joy

This is a very sought after desire which would seem to be the main passion of mankind. So what are the things that bring true joy, and how can you find true happiness? Having a state of joy could be one of the greatest gifts that a person could have. If you imagine you come into life as a small baby, you have no understanding of the world. For years you are taught first by your parents then by teachers at schools various things that are expected of you to be able to live in society. You acquire a number of different values which tend to be the things that govern your life. For some people the idea of earning vast amounts of money and retiring in comfort could be their main value. For others it may be to have a wonderful family life. For some it may be a driving desire to be at the top of their profession. A man named Maslow came up with what is called the “Hierarchy of needs.” He created a pyramid of needs, this is interesting and can give us a deeper look at finding joy by first understanding the human needs.

Hierarchy of Needs

He suggest that a person needs to attain one level of need before moving on to the next higher need, the first level is:-

1. Physiological needs, which are the need for survival, for example food, air, water. These are basic things without which the body would not survive.

2. Safety needs these include things like Health and Well being, financial security, Personal security, prevention of accidents and illnesses. Once these needs have been met we move on to the next level.

3. Love and Belonging this can include things like Friendship, Intimacy, Family, he suggest that humans need to feel a sense of belonging and also acceptance, this can come from a variety of sources for example churches, clubs, professional organisations etc. He points out that humans need to love and be loved.

4. Esteem he indicates that all humans have a need for respect and self-esteem. He says that people who suffer from low self-esteem may not improve themselves just by receiving fame, glory or respect unless they accept themselves internally.

5. Self-Actualization “What a man can be, he must be” this level is about a persons full potential and realizing that full potential.

One of the things he suggests that a person must master each lower level of needs before raising to the next level. But there have been other writers who have criticised his hierarchy of needs due to the fact that the study was conducted in the USA, hence it could be seen as narrow in its views.

Spiritual Beings

One of the interesting ideas is that self-esteem and the idea of being able to attain your full potential, also a mention that self-esteem as acceptance internally. I am of the view that all we need is possibly within us, and has always been within us and probably will always be within us. Let us now look at an earlier question, Having a state of peace could be one of the greatest gifts that a person could have, why is this? Once a person has peace within them, it would not matter what external problems come they would still feel settled and reassured.

There was an interesting quote that I once heard which states that, “We are spiritual beings having an earthly experience”. If this statement was true them it basically can change the way a person looks on life. For example if we are spiritual beings here to have an earthly experience then it could be we are here to learn what it feels to experience a given set of circumstances. If we are eternal spiritual beings, then it could be the case that after this life we would just return to the state we were in prior to being in this human manifestation. And that could suggest that we were in a state of joy before being here on earth. So why not take time to look at your life and decide what things do you really want from life. And next work out a definite plan to achieve them. This could be achieved by setting yourself SMART goals. Well I hope these are a few positive thoughts to make you think and to allow you to find inner joy within yourself.

Having a group of people who meet regularly to discuss ideas and thoughts can be extremely effective. By having a group of like-minded people you will be in a position to find support and useful idea’s. This is because many minds are more effective than one mind alone. Another person may see something that you may not have thought of. In this way everyone benefits from the mind of this body of people. The concept of the master mind has been used by successful people for many centuries. So it could be a very useful idea to be a part of a mastermind group to assist you in changing your schedule.
